Vietnam’s aviation industry delivered a landmark performance in 2025, reaching its highest level of activity on record and reinforcing the country’s position as one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing air travel markets. Total passenger traffic climbed to 83.5 million, representing a 10.7% increase compared with the previous year and marking a full return to sustained growth after years of disruption.
International travel played a decisive role in this expansion. Airlines operating in Vietnam transported 46.6 million international passengers in 2025, reflecting annual growth of 12%. This surge was supported by the steady reopening and expansion of global air links, as well as rising demand for leisure, business, and visiting-friends-and-relatives travel. Air cargo activity also experienced a strong upswing, with volumes rising by 22% to around 1.3 million tons, underlining Vietnam’s growing importance in regional manufacturing and global supply chains.
A key driver behind international growth was the expansion of route networks. Vietnamese carriers now operate 113 international routes, connecting the country with major aviation hubs across Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Europe, and Oceania. At the same time, aviation authorities intensified cooperation with foreign regulators, negotiating new agreements and revising existing frameworks to create more favorable conditions for international operations. These efforts helped airlines add capacity, improve connectivity, and respond more flexibly to changing market demand.
